Sri Chamundeshwari Temple

Amma Sri Chamundeshwari Temple situated in Gowdagere village of Channapatna taluk Malur Hobli, Karnataka State, India is the deity of the devotees of this area.
This temple is famous not only in Karnataka but also all over India. Thousands of devotees from all over the country flock to this temple to tell their hardships and sorrows, and seek her blessings.
‘Chamundi’ or ‘Durga’ is the fierce form of ‘Shakti’. She is the slayer of demons, ‘Chanda’ and ‘Munda’ and also ‘Mahishasura’, the buffalow-headed monster.

    Meaning:
    The splitting of this mantra becomes several sounds namely Om (Universal sound) Aim (Maha Saraswati) Hrim (Maha Lakshmi) Klim (Maha Kali) thus representing all the three feminine forces of the universe. The word 'Chamunda' sees the Divine Mother as the destroyer of demons Chanda and Munda. The term Viche means 'shield.
